The Wildlife Center of the North Coast is once again able to admit adult waterfowl patients for care.
For the past several years, the Center temporarily suspended intake of adult ducks, geese, and other waterfowl following guidance from wildlife health authorities to reduce the risk of spreading Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI). These measures were implemented to protect both wild populations and birds already in rehabilitation.
With updated recommendations from the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) and continued adherence to strict biosecurity protocols, we are now resuming adult waterfowl admissions.
If you find an injured or ill adult waterfowl, please contact our Wildlife Hotline at (503) 338-0331 before attempting to capture or transport the animal. Our staff can provide guidance on safe handling and ensure the bird receives appropriate care.
The Wildlife Center appreciates the community’s understanding during the suspension period and remains committed to safeguarding the health of both wildlife patients and the broader ecosystem.
